I'm allergic to olives and mullberries. As if that isn't enough to drive you crazy. I enjoy occasional patato chips I had some from local restaurant a little over week ago and hiss. I don't know if it was cooked in olive oil or sprinkled with it either way its fricken ridclous it means now I have to read patato chip bags and even reading it I'm still going to be nervous about eating patato chips from now on and am going to have to ask more questions at restaurants I already feel like freak of nature.
Sorry Amanda-Beth, I know a lot of things list cooked in olive oil. Have you actually had a reaction from the oil? I know many people claim that people with peanut allergies can eat things cooked in peanut oil. Though, I don't think it's a good idea. Are you only allergic to those two things? I imagine mulberries are easy to stay away from, no?
Mullberries easier but were in dessert movement that's bringing them back its harder tp aviod figs as precationary measure as you don't know what fruits in them and mullberries are a common fruit. Several times reacted to olive oil. Peanut oil is just that peanut oil olive oil however isn't really oil it is but it isn't olive oil is litterally pressed olives. I know its weird but that's why minute amounts of olive oil can be under word " spices" yes olives are the more challenging even if is the less severe reaction.
Good point about the olive oil.... I bet that really makes it difficult if you only see "spices" on the label.
Indeed from what I've determined when you read "spices" or "natural flavoring" it means we aren't going to tell you. I figure safest to aviod. As natural flavoring can be any plant matter that's less then whatever fda's current standard is. I wish they'd truthfully list every last ingredient on ingredent list but sadly don't see that happening any time soon spices and natural flavoring are evil words.
I think you are exactly right... Though, I think the more "organic" and "health food" you get the more likely they are to list all the ingredients. Might cost a bit more, but a healthier choice.
