From FAAN Website:
In 1997, FAAN created Food Allergy Awareness Week to educate others about food allergies, a potentially life threatening medical condition. This year we are celebrating the 14th annual Food Allergy Awareness Week (FAAW), May 8-14, 2011. We hope you will celebrate with us, and “Be a FAAN Hero!”
FAAN is continuing to support green efforts, therefore all FAAW materials are available online. There are lots of resources available to get involved and spread food allergy awareness.
Use this flyer to spread the word about FAAW.
Interested in making a presentation? Use one of the following presentations to educate others about FAAN and food allergies.
Do you have school-age children or are you looking to get others involved? Here are some ways to help schools and organizations participate in FAAW.
- Give out
PAL™ Hero awards to recognize those who help manage food allergies. Present them to schools, organizations, kids, even parents. You may also e-mail PAL™ Hero awards from www.faankids.org. - Hang posters or pass out brochures at your local grocery store, library, and other places around town.
- Brochures
- Posters
- Complete Alexander the Elephant and friends
coloring and
activity pages. Copy them and use them as handouts when educating school-age children.
Do you have a story to tell? Attach your personal story to FAAN’s news release about FAAW, and send it to your local newspapers and television stations; they may write a story about you. You may also submit your story to FAAN to be considered for a website feature. Each month we share stories just like yours to help others learn how to manage food allergies.
Do You Use Social Media?
- Become a fan of FAAN on Facebook. Share your FAAW activities, pictures, and videos. By becoming a fan, you have a chance to win one of four free FAAN memberships being given out during the month of May. We will select one winner every Friday in May.
- Follow @FoodAllergy and @JuliaBradsher on Twitter.
- Watch food allergy videos on FAAN’s YouTube Channel, including one featuring a song about Food Allergy Awareness Week, to educate others about food allergies.
Please send pictures and descriptions of what you and others do to recognize FAAW to faaw@foodallergy.org.
