Mark your calendars for the 12th annual Food Allergy Awareness Week, to be held May 10-16, 2009.
Help your state officially recognize Food Allergy Awareness Week by obtaining a proclamation from your governor.
Each year, governors across the U.S. issue official proclamations that recognize certain events and issues, including Food Allergy Awareness Week.
Our goal for 2009 is to receive proclamations from all 50 state governors.
You can request a proclamation by sending a letter and template to your governor, by e-mail or by regular mail. Visit your governor’s website for contact information. Be aware, however, that some governors have specific proclamation request pages on their website. If this is the case, you can include the letter and template as attachments, or simply copy and paste them into the appropriate area of the governor’s website.
Please make sure that the proclamations are sent to the FAAN office (although some governors will send out two proclamations, one to FAAN and one to your home).
As we receive proclamations, we will post the name of the state on this page, so stay tuned.
Last year, we also received some FAAW proclamations from individual towns. City/town mayors may also issue proclamations, and we certainly encourage this as well.
